Cutting Costs with LiveU
Maintaining quality when working internationally can be a huge challenge for our clients, new suppliers have a different way of working or simply not as versed in our long-term clients’ production needs. That’s why we’ve been using LiveU technology to not only maintain production standards but also lower costs and our carbon footprint.
Our client LeadDev wished to stream their flagship conference LeadDev as well as the auxiliary event StaffPlus and record the premium management workshop LeadingEng. These events need to replicate the same standards wherever in the world they’re based. Using our LiveU LU800 we sent 4 feeds individual feeds back to our control room in Cardiff, Wales. From here we vision mixed the cameras, produced Picture in Picture graphics and ran some smart little scripts to generate the speaker’s details for the audience. Our vision mix operator was able to follow along with all the behind the scenes action using Unity Intercom, making it really feel like they were in the room.
Not only did this setup reduce the need to fly masses of flight cases and monitors out to the US, it also meant we could use our seasoned operators without flying them and massively interrupting their work schedules. While they were working in a different time zone to the rest of the office, there was no jet lag or 10 hour flights. The environmental impact is huge, less travel means more cost and CO2 savings.
